Love: Arc Control. Typically used when STICK Welding to describe an adjustable amperage regulate for low voltage circumstances while welding. Helps stay away from Sticking.
GMAW: Air Metal Arc Welding. MIG setting of operation. A CV (Constant Voltage) welding approach that melts and brings together metal by heating them through an electrical arc that is made between a motor provided filler material (metal alloy), and some sort of workpiece.
GTAW: Gas Tungsten Arc Welding. TIG manner of operation. A CC (Consistent Current) welding course of action that melts and brings together metal by heating them with an electrical arc that is manufactured between a Tungsten alloy electrode, and a workpiece.
IGBT: Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor. A three terminal component used to control current delivery to the Main Transformer within a great Inverter based Welder. It is also commonly used to generate the AC waveform in the AC/DC TIG Welder.
MOSFET: Sheet metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor. A three terminal component used to control current delivery to your Main Transformer within an Inverter based Welder. It is also used to create the AC waveform in the AC/DC TIG Welder, although IGBT's are usually more commonly used.
OCV: Available Circuit Voltage. The no load Output Voltage applied to the Welder Output Terminals. It is usually between 50 and 100V DC (Welder based mostly) when measured in STICK MODE.
PAW: Plasma Arc Welding. A CC (Persistent Current) welding course of action that melts and joins metal by heating them with the electrically conductive Plasma column that is created between a Tungsten blend electrode, and a workpiece.
PCA: Printed out Circuit Assembly. A PCB with electronic components installed on it.
PCB: A Printed Circuit Board can be a bare board without any sort of electronic components mounted (stuffed) into it. It consists of an insulative substrate material (usually Fiberglass) and a surface material (usually copper). The Welding Industry inappropriately uses this term to describe a PCA (Printed out Circuit Assembly).
Rectifier: A component that coverts AC inside DC. Normally configured for a Full- Wave Rectifier. Useful to create the DC Tour bus Voltage (Input Rectifier), and also to provide DC output in the Main Transformer (A second set of Output Diodes).
Spatter: Metal particles which can be blown away from the Welding Arc. Not part of the completed weld.
SMAW: Protected Metal Arc Welding. STAY mode of operation. A CC (Consistent Current) welding process that melts and joins metal by heating them through an electrical arc that is made between a flux coated metal electrode, and some sort of workpiece.
Stinger: Some sort of STICK Electrode Holder.
VRD: Voltage Reduction Device. A safety feature that could be enabled in STICK mode to cut back the OCV of the Welder to be able to help protect the Weldor with Electrocution.
Welder: A variety of Power Supply that gives a controlled output Current, or Voltage as appropriate to your welding mode of process. When correctly utilized, it enables several pieces of metal to remain electrically bonded together.
Weldor: An operator on the Welder. A person which welds Metal.
Mix: A STICK Electrode Case, or a MIG Rifle.
Workpiece: The little bit of metal that is being electrically bonded to, in the process of Welding.
